Overall health, well-being and quality of life before medical cannabis

It’s been eleven years since my accident and I’ve had chronic pain everyday all day since then. My life before medicinal cannabis was very hard. Everyday tasks were dictated by pain.

Additional info about this time in patient's life

I had always used cannabis in a recreational form. So for me I had no issues substituting cannabis for prescription drugs. If I could give my self any advice it would be to stay positive, things are going to get better.

Patient Process

Path to cannabis

After surgery I was using oxycodone to manage my pain levels. After a few weeks of this i was not enjoying the side effects that came along with oxy and I was nervous how quickly my body craved the drug. I started using cannabis to manage my pain levels and because I was in a wheel chair and inactive throughout the day I had developed massive problems with insomnia. Cannabis was an absolute life changer by allowing me to manage my pain levels and helping me sleep at night.

Products Tried

When I was first tried cannabis as medicine I was smoking dried flower. Now with the advances and commitment of businesses in the industry I use edibles during the day because I have found my exact dose that manages my pain but keeps me cognitively clear so I'm able to function with my day to day tasks and responsibilities. At night time I smoke a joint because it relaxes me and allows me to manage my evenings.

Patient Experience

How Cannabis has had an impact on patient's day to day life

Cannabis has significantly changed my life for the better. Cannabis helps me manage my pain levels to a very manageable level. Honestly it hurts to get out of bed everyday. For me the things in life that bring me the most joy are venturing to beautiful places and exploring. Unfortunately since my injury I'm not as physically able as I used to be. This was a really hard pill for me to swallow mentally. I can no longer do the one thing that brings me the most joy. Cannabis has helped me manage my pain to a point where I can now get back and explore these places. It still hurts and there's moments where I wonder why I'm doing this but those thoughts are short lived when I look around.

I have found great joy in meditation and I use Cannabis to kick me into the mind frame I need to be in order to turn off. I listen to Tibetan prayer music and am able through stretching and sitting to remove a lot of negative energy out of my mind and body

Additional info about medical Cannabis experience

It has changed my life in ways I never thought possible. When I managed pain with pharmaceuticals I always felt hazy and sort of dirty. Cannabis offers a clean and clear system for me to manage my pain. I love medicinal cannabis.
